Chicago Navy Memorial Foundation Celebrates Washington’s Birthday with Admiral Richardson

Admiral John M. Richardson (USN, Retired), former Chief of Naval Operations, speaks to audience about why George Washington is considered the godfather of the U.S. Navy, and his pivotal role in advocating for its establishment and supporting its early development, laying the groundwork for its future prominence and effectiveness.

Members of the Chicago Navy Memorial Foundation played a key role in organizing the Union League Club of Chicago’s annual George Washington’s Birthday celebration, held on February 9, 2024. The Foundation facilitated the participation of Admiral John M. Richardson, former Chief of Naval Operations, as the keynote speaker for the event.  The celebration of George Washington’s birthday honors the first President of the United States, recognizing his leadership, character, and pivotal role in the founding of the nation. Washington is celebrated for his commitment to democratic principles and his exemplary leadership during the American Revolution and early years of the Republic. The event at the Union League Club served as a tribute to his enduring legacy and contributions to American history.
